The doors are open, the mission is strong, and the vision is youth-led: allcove San Juan Capistrano has officially launched! On September 3rd, the Wellness and Prevention Center celebrated the opening of its newest initiative — allcove, a welcoming drop-in center for youth ages 12 to 25. This unique space offers a safe, inclusive environment where young people can access a wide range of mental, physical, and social wellness services tailored to their needs.
allcove was created with, by, and for youth — and that guiding principle shapes everything from its services to its design. The center’s vision is for every young person to feel they belong, to choose the support they need, and to thrive. Its mission is to build a network of integrated youth mental health centers that reduce stigma, embrace mental wellness, foster community connections, and provide equitable, culturally responsive care.
This vision began in 2019, when a group of local youth gathered to imagine a new kind of mental health space — one that felt approachable, youth-driven, and far from a traditional clinical setting. That initial conversation sparked a six-year journey. Since then, the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) has led the way: sharing ideas, securing funding, designing the space, and developing programming. From the layout of the building to the type of furniture chosen, every decision was made with the goal of creating a space that feels comfortable and empowering for youth.
The YAG continues to play a vital role, guiding the direction of allcove and ensuring it remains relevant and responsive to youth voices. Their responsibilities include providing feedback on center policies and services, supporting outreach efforts, and collaborating on projects that reduce stigma and increase access to care. Each member brings passion, leadership, and a deep commitment to connecting peers with resources that support their well-being.
Through its integrated care model, allcove San Juan Capistrano offers support across six core areas: mental health services, physical health care, substance use support, peer support, family services, and education/employment assistance. Upon arrival, youth are welcomed by peer support specialists—young adults with lived experience, trained to offer authentic, compassionate support. A licensed clinician oversees the peer team and ensures that all youth receive high-quality care. In the near future, the center will also include a medical team to provide physical health education and services.
Youth can also participate in a variety of workshops that help build interpersonal skills, professional development, and strengthen family communication. These opportunities empower young people not only to get help, but to grow into their potential.
We’re excited to welcome youth and families into this vibrant new space. allcove San Juan Capistrano is located at 27125 Calle Arroyo, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675, and is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Hours subject to change.
