WHY DONATE?
Being a young person is different than it was when we were growing up. Facebook and Instagram didn’t exist yet. College was a fraction of the price. Life was a lot less stressful. That’s why, now, it’s more important than ever for us to provide support to our teens. But, that’s where the problem lies. There just aren’t enough resources to help our kids reach their potential and accomplish the great things of which we know they are capable.
The Wellness & Prevention Center provides school based therapeutic services that address the social and emotional needs of our youth. The center provides a safe place for students to discuss stressors and conflict while working on positive solutions. School wide programming and individual services are designed to encourage healthy coping mechanisms for the overwhelming demands on our local youth while promoting evidence based prevention models. Research has shown that the majority of our adolescents’ social and emotional learning takes place at school and that a mental health professional on campus greatly helps these students thrive.
During the COVID 19 epidemic, W&PC staff continues to meet with youth through TeleHealth. During this crisis, our staff is seeing an increased mental health burden from youth and families. The amount of requests for counseling services has increased steadily through this crisis.
More than ever, we need our youth to thrive, and through W&PC’s prevention education and therapeutic interventions, the wellbeing of our youth is protected. How society recovers in a crisis is largely based upon the mental health of communities. Please help us support youth and families.
